Introduction to the Korean Association of Private Tutoring Studies (KAPTS)

Historical Overview of KAPTS

Founded in 2017 as an organization recognized as a legal entity, formally incorporated in 2024 under Article 4 of the Regulations on the Establishment and Supervision of Non-Profit Corporations under the Ministry of Education, KAPTS is dedicated to fostering a healthy private tutoring education environment. KAPTS has advanced this mission through academic research, international and domestic conferences, and the publication of scholarly journals since 2021. By creating a platform for knowledge exchange among education experts, KAPTS proposes practical solutions to challenges in the field, and actively collaborate with related institutions to develop effective, practice-oriented education policies and programs.

Number of academic organizations in Korea: 10,941 (as of August 2025),

Among them, KAPTS is the only one dedicated to research on private tutoring education.
