Currently in my third year of a Bachelor of Speech Pathology, I am passionate about using a strengths-based methodology to work with children, adolescents and their families to improve their daily functioning, well-being and educational outcomes. I have 3-years-experience working as an independent Therapy Assistant/Disability Support Worker and worked for 4-years as a Student Support Officer with students with additional needs. I have a demonstrated ability to manage a diverse case load, having worked with children with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Cerebral Palsy and Apraxia within school, home and community contexts and in private clinics and hospitals on placement. As a mother of 2 children with disabilities, I also have the lived experience to provide the high level of empathy and support needed to my clients and their families. I have special interests in working with children with Autism and Dyslexia, demonstrated by the additional training I have completed in AAC, ABA, What’s the Buzz and Multisensory Structured Language (MSL/Orton Gillingham).
