Description
How can I help? My name is Olivia, I am a qualified teacher and an experienced online tutor. I work 1-on-1 with students from Year 7 to Year 12 across Australia. I am based in Melbourne and have lots of Victorian students, but I also teach students in Queensland and NSW (and would love to work with people from other states).
I teach maths, English, and humanities subjects through to VCE/QCE/HSC. I also provide specialist support for essay writing, and for students undertaking Independent Investigation.
I have undergraduate degrees in Arts and Science (High Distinction average and Honours), and am currently working on a PhD. I have 7 years experience as a tutor, as well as a range of experience in secondary, tertiary and adult education.
I called my business Big Picture Tutoring because I focus on big picture skills like creativity, critical thinking, confidence, planning, time management, problem-solving, research, communication, and independent learning. The world is changing rapidly and it’s hard to predict what the future holds for today’s students, but whatever happens these skills are likely to be essential. I focus on why students are learning what they’re learning, helping them to develop their own understanding and grasp underlying principles. As well as supporting students to accomplish their educational goals, I provide mentoring and help develop skills and interests that will be of value for the rest of their lives.
I would love to hear from you! Get in touch – I’ll be happy to answer all your questions. Then we can organise a free lesson, so you can try out tutoring with me before you decide.
