Description
I'm an experienced, qualified, and registered teacher who works with students experiencing difficulties with literacy, including dyslexia, and numeracy.
My teaching is explicit, structured, cumulative, and responsive, drawing on training in Multisensory Structured Language (MSL) and other approaches aligned with the sciences of reading and learning. I am especially passionate about helping students understand how written words work, not as a collection of rules and exceptions, but as a meaningful system of interrelationships between morphology, etymology, and phonology.
I support students with areas such as:
* reading accuracy and fluency
* spelling difficulties
* dyslexia and other literacy learning difficulties
* phonemic awareness and phonics
* handwriting and written expression
* vocabulary and word knowledge
* reading comprehension
* confidence with writing
* numeracy foundations, confidence, and problem-solving
Through this work, I help students build confidence, independence, and a deeper understanding of reading, spelling, writing, numeracy, and learning in general.
Alongside my work with students, I also provide consultancy, professional development, and resources for teachers, with a focus on building teacher knowledge and capacity in literacy instruction.
